Common Mistakes to Avoid

Common Mistakes to Avoid
When Booking Your Golf Event

Here are 7 of the mistakes organizers should avoid when booking their golf event, and how Starfire helps you eliminate those possibilities:

 1. Sign a contract without clear understanding of all costs including costs if event turnout is less than planned.

Starfire: Your contract will clearly state all costs and we ask for a firm headcount seven days in advance of your event. Even then you can increase the headcount by 10% and the additional players rate will be the same player rate as stated on the contract.

 2. Fail to get in writing what the course should provide on event day including scoring, contest markers, sign placement and more.

Starfire: We clearly show the extensive list of Tournament Services provided during event day on our web site under the Tournament & Outing tab.

 3. Show up on event day and find out you cannot put up all the signs and banners promised to your sponsors.

Starfire: All sponsors signs to be placed on the course, either by assigned golf hole or randomly, and banners for the lawn will be on the course and lawn prior to your event. (To allow placement prior to your event, delivery of signs and banners to Starfire needs to be completed on the day prior to the event.)

 4. Find out you cannot bring your own beverages and snacks on the course which is provided by your organization or a sponsor.

Starfire: As stated in your contract and discussed with event organizer prior to contract signing, no outside food and beverage is allowed.

 5. Learn the course will have other players and groups on the course at the same time your event is being held.

Starfire: We will not schedule conflicting tournaments, outings or general play that will interfere with your tournament. Starfire will schedule general play, not to conflict with your tournament, if your tournament has less than 144 players.

 6. Lack of tables and equipment for registrations, awards ceremony and auction.

Starfire: Together with you in the 30 day meeting prior to your event, we will determine and schedule the required tables and chairs for all activities including any required on course for specialty holes. (i.e. hole-in-one, Vegas hole)

 7. Forget to arrange for free carts to be used by staff to monitor activities on the course during the event.

Starfire: In the 30 day meeting prior to your event, you can reserve the additional carts that will be required for volunteers.
