Finest 27-hole Facility

In Celebration of Golf Management hand selected a few courses to be the experts in delivering the best tournaments in the Valley. These courses, including Starfire, make up The Tournament Club.

Founded in 1953 as Sundown Ranch Golf Club and later as Scottsdale Country Club, Starfire Golf Club at Scottsdale Country Club is recognized today as the oldest and most historic golf club in Scottsdale, AZ. A traditional style layout with spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains and meandering through some of the oldest Eucalyptus and Pines in Scottsdale, this 27-hole Arnold Palmer designed layout is far from the typical "Arizona Golf Experience". The average 18-hole rotation stands at just over 6,300 yards from the back tees. The design of our friendly yet challenging 27 holes means your players will spend their time making par and birdies instead of looking for their balls. Superb year-round course conditions, coupled with impeccable customer service create a memorable and historic golf experience.

"The King" is the Palmer-designed nine holes- composed by Mr. Palmer in the mid 1980's.  It is a true classic Palmer layout boasting three Par-3 holes, three Par-4 holes, and three Par-5's for a total Par 36. This layout provides the player with opportunities to post a low number. However, cleverly placed hazards and bunkering can also drive scores upwards with misplaced shots. The King is combined with one of the two original Scottsdale Country Club nines to provide a Par-70 layout.

The original Scottsdale Country Club layout began as a Par 71 and has been altered and re-routed over time, finally by Mr. Palmer to boast two unique Par 34 nines that retain the tradition of the original layout and encompass the classic Palmer touch. Each of the original nines play equally challenging and when coupled together provide a stroll down memory lane and the original Scottsdale Country Club design; a playable Par 68 for the high handicapper and a fun test for the scratch golfer. Respectively, each nine echoes the name of two of Mr. Palmer's colleagues who once frequented the course with him as a tune-up for the Phoenix Open in the early 1950's; Ben Hogan, "The Hawk" and Gene Sarazen, "The Squire."

"The Hawk" nine has one Par-5, along with three Par-3 holes, and the remaining 5 Par- 4's, offering a quaint and cool saunter through the mature Eucalyptus and Pine trees. The Hawk to King combination provides a very popular rotation for early morning play.

"The Squire" nine provides an extra Par-3 in the layout, which is coupled with two reachable Par 5 holes, and three narrow Par 4's. This set-up offers an abundance of scoring opportunities. However, be weary of the water hazards that come onto play on four out of the final 5 holes.

DID YOU KNOW? On property at Starfire is a full service clubhouse with pro shop, meeting/banquet rooms, outdoor terrace and restaurant lounge that serve full menus for breakfast and lunch. There is a practice green for putting and chipping. There also is complimentary short game area, where golfers can warm up (wedges only) by using their own balls and retrievers. Targets stretch to over 100 yards.
